Odisha opener Anjali slams 80 in East Zone win

East Zone rode on a sparkling knock of 80 by Odisha opening batsman Anjali Singh to beat Central Zone by five wickets in their second league match of the Under-23 Women’s Inter-Zonal One-day Limited Overs Cricket Tournament at GSFC Cricket Ground in Vadodara, Gujarat today.

This was the second successive win for East Zone, who defeated North Zone by one wicket yesterday. East Zone now lead the table with full eight points and will next meet West Zone on March 12. Chasing a 214 for victory today, East Zone romped home 47.2 overs, losing five wickets in the process.

Anjali anchored the East Zone innings, hitting six boundaries in her 104-ball knock. Sushree Dibyadarshini Pradhan, the second Odisha player to feature in today’s match, put up modest performance, taking one wickets for 46 runs and scoring 15 runs.  Among other successful East Zone players, Jharkhand allrounder Durga Kumari Murmu scored 44, while captain and Bengal bowler Tanusree Sarkar picked up two wickets.
